MEMORIES FROM HELL

Several hundred of Sahrawis, men, women and children were victims of enforced disappearances between 1976 and 1992.
Some objects were saved by the survivors upon their release from the secret prisons of Kalaat M'Gouna (Ouazazate, Morocco) and PCCMI (El Aaiun, Western Sahara).
Today, Sahrawi survivors still do not have the right to testify about their experiences in the prisons. The rights holders are still waiting for the truth and the remains of their dead relatives.

Faced with Moroccan negation, these objects are kept preciously and secretly in the occupied territory. However, the secret and its silence mark a break in the transmission of the collective memory.
